Første Konsert/Debut Performance

No nærmar debuten seg! Torsdag 26.05. drar "Dei Nye Sigarkameratane" - elevane mine og eg - på uoffisiell miniturné Barnas Festspilldag i Bergen. Me opptrer på Bergen Offentlige Bibliotek kl 10.30, Galleriet kl 13.00 og NSB sin avgangshall kl 14.50. På programmet står materiale frå denne bloggen: høgdepunkt frå rockehistoria og ein liten heimelaga blues. Om eg har kapasitet vil eg ta opp litt lyd og legge ut på bloggen.

International:
The debut performance is close! Thursday 26th my students and I will be playing a mini tour of unofficial concerts at Bergen International Festival. We will be playing at Bergen Puplic Library at 10.30, Galleriet Shopping Centre at 13.00 and at Bergen Train Station at 14.50. The program consists of material in this blog: highlights from the history of rock'n roll, and a tiny home made blues. If I can manage, I will record some sound and share it on the blog.

Ruby+Philips=Amp

Ein gamal Philips-høgttalar frå eit våningshus i Nordfjord oppgradert til gitarforsterkar. Høgttalaren hadde hengt på kjøkenet med kabelen kappa i årevis. Eg brukte eit ruby-amp byggesett frå http://www.rubyamp.com

Sidan eg er ein nybyrjar og amatør i loddekunst var kretskortet ei utfordring. (Eg måtte lodde fleire punkt om att då eg testa - heldigvis før eg putta Ruby-implantatet i Philips-høgttalaren.) Litt overraskande var det spikkinga på trekassen som var den største jobben, sjølv om er meir på heimebane når eg jobbar med tre. Toppen av høgttalaren måtte bli mykje tynnare for å få jack chassi-pluggane, av-/påbrytar og potmetra gjennom. Ei tilfredsstillande belønning at forsterkaren virka. Neste gong går nok jobben kjappare og smidigare.

International:
An old Philips loudspeaker from a farm house on the west coast of Norway is upgraded to guitar amp. The speaker had been hanging on the kitchen wall with wire cut for many years. I used a ruby amp kit from http://www.rubyamp.com/

Beeing a a novice in the fine art of soldering, it was a challenge to populate the circuit board. (I had to redo several solderings when testing - luckily before fitting the Ruby implant in the Philips speaker.) However, the hardest job was carving out wood to make the top thin enough for the jack sockets, power switch and potmeters, even though I feel quite at home working with wood. The satisfaction when the amp actually did work was the reward. Next time it will probably be faster and smoother.

Eg er ferdig med å lodde, og min nye Ruby-forsterkar er snart klar til å installerast i ein gamal Philipshøgttalar.

I am finished soldering and my new Ruby Amp is soon ready to be installed in an old Philips speaker.
